Product Info

Get ready to twist and turn your way to puzzle solving victory with the Cast Coil, a challenging 3D metal puzzle from Hanayama Huzzle. This intricate puzzle requires skill and patience to unravel the coiled design. With its unique design and challenging solution, the Cast Coil is a must have for any puzzle enthusiast.

It appears like a box like lump with a hole in it, but is actually comprised of two coiled up virtually identical pieces.  Your objective is to take it apart by sliding and rotating the pieces and then put it back together in its original cube shape. Although the pieces are angular in shape, they can be rotated in unexpected ways, making their movements quite intriguing. Japanese designer Edi Nagata is the mastermind behind this challenging cast puzzle.

Cool looking and fun to solve, although not quite as challenging as the difficulty rating suggests. It's a nice size and weight to carry around, with a chunky feel. I like it.

This is easily one of my favourite Hanayama puzzles I have done so far. The build quality is excellent and it has a very nice look to it. I found that the pieces have loosened up a lot after many people attempting it, although this is to its benefit. I would say the difficulty rating is appropriate, it took me a day of on and off working on it. I struggled most putting it back together. An excellent puzzle to fidget with on conference calls or car rides. Highly recommend!

I own a couple dozen Hanayama and this is one of my favorites. The look and feel of this puzzle is incredible. Moves are so smooth and satisfying to complete. Usually never disappointed With Hanayama, all things considered one of my favorite from them and underrated. This was a bit easier than other fives, I’d say it may be closer a four out of six on their scale.

Nice pocket puzzle to carry around. Difficult at first, Easy once you know the path. The fist one I had however, was locked together very tight. It took a while for the brass piece to move. Once I got it apart while just moving the pieces around, I could not figure out how I did it. Then the puzzle was to put the two pieces back together. Good puzzle to hand out and show friends.

I think this puzzle is underrated. I bought it for a friend of mine, he managed to disassemble it, but could not assemble it back. I think he was not paying attention during the first part and was just lucky. I tried to assemble it and could do it only with the help of a video which shows how to take the two parts apart. But I have no idea how it works in general. I might buy it one day for myself.

Appropriately-rated difficulty. It took me 10 minutes to get this puzzle apart, and a little longer to put it together again. But it took me a few days to understand the sequence of moves to solve the puzzle consistently. As with all Hanayama puzzles, this is expertly designed and manufactured. A must have!
